The trekkers are all converging on the start of the trail today. They’ve been traveling from Vancouver to Port Renfrew via BC Ferries and Victoria, where they picked up Rob Hill. Despite a gloomy west coast weather day – it’s been raining fairly steady all day – spirits are up. The excitement of a new adventure on a historic trail can’t be rained out.
The West Coast Trail will be an epic adventure. The first leg of the trip has our intrepid group taking a short boat ride from Port Renfrew to the Gordon River trail head. They’ll spend the next seven days trekking along the rugged wild west coast, up and down ladders, across bridges, using overhead wire trolley crossings across rivers, gulleys and impassable terrain. Weather can be challenging, with frequent foggy conditions and relentless rain at times. This week looks like the IBD Adventures team will see it all: clear skies, rain and rolling fog.
